Wayne: For me this is the perfect album to end the Mission's recording career. Highlights? Every single song......It joins up all the dots and is an amalgamation of ALL periods of the band and not just the missing link between The Sisters Of Mercy's First & Last & Always album and our first, God's Own Medicine, as I so naivély claimed upon its release. When I finished this album I was done, the well was dry. It was time to do something else for a while, to give myself time to replenish the well-spring of creativity. If The Mission never make another record then I'm more than happy for this to be our final testament.

Simon: By complete contrast, and as a reaction to The Brightest Light, this took ages. In fact, as an album, it is quite the opposite. We didn't actually meet up to record it, which I missed. A good helping of strong songs though.

Mike: AFFG was a totally different idea. Never once were we all in the same room. It started from recordings Wayne did in Sao Paulo. This record had more of an electronic drum feel and I was to add more percussive stabs and overdub sections. Wayne and I did some bits in my little studio looking out at the sea in Brighton, and he then took the files to Brazil. Wayne carefully put all the stuff together in his studio, and then took it to the USA to mix. Wayne wanted the feel of a very early Mission record, and I think everyone will agree he certainly did make it fit right into the sound of that era.! Old but new..?!! 🙂
